Supply chain exams love definitions that sound alike. Is it JIT or lean? Agile or quick response? The Supply Chain & Logistics deck (code QH9042) packs 59 cards spanning SCM basics, operations methods and academic theory. Separate those three layers and the deck becomes easy.

Sample cards
| Front | Back |
|---|---|
| Four basic components of a supply chain | Procurement, operations management, logistics, and marketing channels |
| Three components of supply chain resilience | Persistence (bounce back), adaptation (new normal), and transformation |
| Vendor-managed inventory (VMI) | Suppliers manage inventory levels at customer locations based on agreed parameters |
| Reverse logistics | Managing the return of goods, including recycling or returning faulty products to producers |
| Keiretsu | A Japanese supply network structure built on long-term relationships between companies |
| Available-to-Promise (ATP) | Answers customer order inquiries based on resource availability |
| Theory of Constraints (TOC) | Identifying and managing the most limiting constraint in a system |
| Coercive power in supply chain | Power based on threats or punishment; research links it to negative relationships |
Notions you will master
SCM definition and goals, CSCMP functions, procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, CRM, demand management, order fulfillment, physical distribution, warehouse management, fleet management, telematics, holding cost, work-in-process inventory, supply chain visibility, control tower, cycle time compression, channel coordination, business process integration, Extended Enterprise, vertical integration, SCM 2.0, extreme SCM, SaaS, EDI, ERP, OEM, JIT, lean, agile manufacturing, mass customization, QRM, TQM, Lambert and Cooper's nine components, RBV, transaction cost analysis, relational view, referent vs coercive power, primary vs secondary channel participants, COVID-19 and public policy for resilience.
Tip 1: build a contrast table for the production methods
Six cards describe "better manufacturing" in near-identical words. Make one card per distinguishing goal:
| Method | Optimizes for | Signature |
|---|---|---|
| JIT | Inventory | Materials arrive only when needed |
| Lean | Waste | Remove every non-value step |
| Agile | Flexibility | Fast response to demand changes |
| QRM | Lead time | Shorten every cycle |
| TOC | Bottleneck | Fix the single limiting constraint |
| TQM | Quality | Continuous improvement, customer focus |
When a question asks "which approach...", look for the noun in the middle column.
Tip 2: tag (or fix) the off-topic and vague cards
A few cards will mislead you:
- Card 3 (operating, investing, financing) is the cash-flow statement from accounting, not a supply chain concept. Card 6 (GAAP) is pure accounting too.
- Card 10 mentions a "stage 3 supply chain network" without ever defining the stages. Add a card for it or suspend this one.
- Card 51 defines "supply chain collaboration" as buyer-supplier-bank platforms. That's actually supply chain finance, so rename the front.
Suspend the accounting cards for a logistics exam. Keep them if your course is about SCM finance.
Suggested order
Cards 1-21 (foundations), then the operations cluster 14-15, 23, 26, 38-40 with the table above, then theory (36-37, 55-57) last. It's the most abstract part and the least tested in practitioner exams.
