Polish has seven cases, three genders and a spelling system that scares people off before they have said dziękuję. The good news: about a thousand words do most of the talking. The Flip It deck Polish Vocabulary: 1000 Words (deck code ZQ6063) contains exactly 1,000 cards, English front, Polish back, arranged by frequency so that the first cards you meet are the words you will hear in every Polish sentence.

Two things make this deck different from a plain word list. First, the English side is precise: się is labelled reflexive, żeby is to / in order to rather than just to, and na shows both on and at. Second, the deck keeps the inflected forms that real speech uses: tego (this, gen.), tym (this, instr.), tej (this, fem. gen.), go (him, acc.), panu (sir, dat.), żadnych (no, gen. pl.). You are learning Polish as it is spoken, not the dictionary headwords.
What the 1,000 cards cover
- Nouns and time: czas, lat, minut, miejsce, sposób, pracy, koniec, dom, noc, pomysł, nadzieję, powodu, wzgórze, kot, wiek, broń.
- Adjectives and adverbs: dobrze, dużo, wiele, długo, każdy, jaki, takie, samo, bezpieczny, znowu, dalej.
Two tips specific to this deck
1. Group the case forms by lemma before you drill them. When tego, tej and tym show up on three different days, they feel like three random words. Keep a one-line note per lemma (ten / ta / to → tego, tej, tym, tę) and add each new form as the deck introduces it. By the end you will have reconstructed the demonstrative and personal-pronoun paradigms from the cards themselves, which sticks far better than memorising a chart on day one.
2. Read the verb endings, not just the verb. The deck gives you masz / mamy / macie (you have / we have / you all have), wiesz / mówisz / widzisz / musisz (all you forms) and miałem / byłam / byłeś (past forms with gender). Say the ending out loud as a separate beat: ma-SZ, ma-MY, ma-CIE. After thirty or forty cards the -sz / -my / -cie pattern becomes automatic and you can conjugate verbs the deck never showed you.
Pacing
Thirty new cards a day finishes the deck in a little over a month. Since frequency drives the order, the first 200 cards (about a week) already cover the connective tissue of Polish: nie, to, się, że, co, jest, tak, proszę, dziękuję, przepraszam. From there, every Polish film with Polish subtitles becomes a review session.
