The TOEIC Listening & Reading test does not reward big vocabulary — it rewards the right vocabulary. Parts 5, 6 and 7 recycle the same few hundred words from memos, invoices, job postings and shipping notices, and the TOEIC Business English deck (code NF1265) on Flip It packs 374 of them into one place. Each card is a single word on the front and a plain-English definition on the back — nothing more, which is exactly what you need to drill fast.

What the deck looks like

Ten cards taken straight from the deck:

FrontBack
AdjournTo stop a meeting or session temporarily
ConsignmentA batch of goods delivered to a retailer or agent
DefaultFailure to fulfill an obligation, especially to repay a loan
LedgerA book or computer file for recording financial accounts
PremisesA house or building together with its land and outbuildings
ReimburseTo repay someone for money spent or lost
RemunerationMoney paid for work or services
RespectivelyIn the order given; separately in the order mentioned
TenderA formal written offer to supply goods or services at a stated price
TurnoverThe amount of money taken by a business; the rate at which employees leave

Notice how many of these are ordinary words with a business meaning (default, tender, premises, turnover). That gap between everyday English and office English is where most TOEIC points are lost.

The 374 words, by test theme

The deck is alphabetical, but the vocabulary maps neatly onto the situations the TOEIC loves:

  • Finance & accounting — asset, audit, balance, capital, creditor, debtor, deficit, dividend, equity, fiscal, invoice, liability, margin, mortgage, overhead, payroll, profitability, receipt, revenue, surplus, yield
  • HR & careers — appraisal, candidate, compensation, eligible, incentive, overtime, personnel, promotion, recruit, redundant, remuneration, resign, retire, vacancy, wage, workforce
  • Meetings & correspondence — adjourn, agenda, brief, clarify, consensus, correspondence, memo, notify, postpone, reschedule, resolution, submit
  • Trade & logistics — bulk, consignment, container, export, freight, import, inventory, replenish, shipment, storage, tariff, warehouse, wholesale
  • Contracts & law — amendment, comply, copyright, exempt, indemnity, legislation, license, patent, ratify, revoke, terminate, terms, trademark, violation, warranty
  • Corporate strategy — acquisition, benchmark, franchise, merger, monopoly, outsource, subsidiary, takeover, venture

How to memorize them for the test

Study the pairs the TOEIC confuses on purpose. Part 5 grammar-vocabulary questions typically offer four look-alike options. The deck contains many of the classic traps: creditor / debtor, employer / employee, import / export, shareholder / stakeholder / stockholder, supervise / supervisor, wholesale / retail, deficit / surplus. When one of these appears in your session, deliberately recall its twin before flipping the card.

Turn definitions into collocations. A definition gets you the meaning; a collocation gets you the answer. After reviewing incur, say “incur a penalty”; after comply, say “comply with regulations”; after outstanding, “an outstanding balance”. Part 6 text-completion questions are almost always solved by the word that fits the collocation, not the one with the closest synonym.

Pace it to your exam date. At 374 cards, 25 new cards a day gets you through the deck in 15 days, leaving time for spaced reviews. Flip It's repetition schedule brings back the words you miss (usually the finance and legal ones) more often than the ones you already own, so a 10-minute daily session is enough once the first pass is done.
