Deck MF8189 — "Spanish Vocabulary B1 — Expanding" (360 cards) is one of the biggest Spanish decks in the Flip It library, and the first thing to know about it is that it is not a thematic B1 syllabus. It is a frequency list harvested from film and TV subtitles, and the genre leaks through: asesino, asesinato, balas, armas, matar, mató, murió, prueba, culpa, maldito. You are learning the Spanish of a dubbed police procedural — genuinely useful listening vocabulary, as long as you drill it knowing what it is.

Eight cards that show the range

Front (English)Back (Spanish)
boss/chiefjefe
opportunityoportunidad
there is/exists (subj.)haya
I had (subjunctive)hubiera
and (before i/hi)e
neither/eithertampoco
bulletsbalas
a lot/bunchmontón

Card 21 (e, the form y takes before a word starting in i- or hi-) and card 255 (sino, "but rather", not pero) are the kind of B1 detail the deck gets right.

What the 360 cards actually cover

Subjunctive forms (haya, hubiera, esté, tenga, haga, hagas, digas, quieras, quiera, seas), conditionals (haría, habría, podríamos, deberíamos, estaría), futures (iré, diré, hará, habrá, estaré), preterites (fui, tuve, di, dio, vio, murió, llegó, encontré), attached-pronoun infinitives (verte, decirle, decirte, verlo, darle, irme), commands (haz, dile, dime, dame, cállate, mire, pase, recuerda), plus everyday nouns: habitación, oficina, pueblo, calle, película, ropa, baño, cita, sueño, pelo, montón.

One verb, nine cards

estar is spread across nine separate cards — esté, estaban, estuvo, estuve, estuvimos, estará, estaré, estábamos, estaría — with no card teaching the paradigm. decir takes eight (dicen, diga, digas, dile, dime, diré, decirle, decirte), hacer seven, tener five. Tip: collapse each cluster into one conjugation-table card per verb. Thirty scattered forms become four cards you can actually produce on demand, and the remaining 330 stay pure vocabulary.

Repair these before your first review

  • Card 70: the back reads simplementethere — fix it to simplemente.
  • Card 159: aqui is labelled "colloquial". It is not; it is a missing accent. Write aquí.
  • Cards 256 (the) and 304 (s) are subtitle noise. Delete them, along with card 249 (uh).
  • Card 344 asks for a past tense and answers ocurre, which is present. Either change the front or write ocurrió.
  • Cards 215 and 345 give éste / ésta. The RAE dropped that accent in 2010 — modern Spanish writes este / esta.
  • Card 341 answers "my name is" with llamo; the usable form is me llamo. Same for card 289 (encanta → me encanta) and cards 163/244, where acaba / acabo only work as acabar de + infinitive.

Second tip: the deck gives no genders. habitación, luz, paz, voz, mente and edad are feminine; país, sistema, viaje, dolor and montón are masculine. Add el/la to every noun back as you review, or you will produce fluent-sounding Spanish with the wrong articles. Note also that the deck mixes regions: auto (Latin America) sits next to vosotros (Spain only).

For grammar the frequency list can only hint at, the Flip It library has NF8415 — Spanish Ser, Estar & Irregular Verbs and FI7328 — Spanish Subjunctive, Pronouns & Prepositions.
