Film trivia and cinema-studies quizzes lean on one reflex: hear a title, name the director. The Famous Film Directors deck on Flip It (deck code VC7936, 100 cards) trains exactly that reflex, one film per card, front = title, back = director. This guide breaks down what the 100 cards actually contain and the fastest way to memorize them.

What the 100 cards cover

Learn the repeat directors first
Thirty directors appear more than once, so they account for 69 of the 100 cards. Get them down and two-thirds of the deck is done:
- 5 films: Steven Spielberg (Schindler's List, E.T., Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, West Side Story)
- 3 films each: Coppola, Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Django Unchained), Polanski (Chinatown, The Pianist, Rosemary's Baby), Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Royal Tenenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom), Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, Little Women, Barbie), Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X, BlacKkKlansman)
- 2 films each: Hitchcock, Kubrick, Nolan, Scorsese, De Sica, Iñárritu, Cuarón, Ang Lee, Almodóvar, the Coens, Paul Thomas Anderson, Fincher, Ridley Scott, Woody Allen, Mike Nichols, Altman, Jonathan Demme, Zemeckis, Sofia Coppola, Bigelow, Chloé Zhao, Jordan Peele, Barry Jenkins
Two tips that actually help with this deck
Watch for the trap pairs. The deck deliberately includes films that get mixed up: Citizen Kane vs Casablanca (Welles, not Curtiz), Bicycle Thieves vs Rome, Open City (De Sica vs Rossellini), Eternal Sunshine vs Being John Malkovich (Gondry vs Jonze, both written by Charlie Kaufman). Review these side by side.
Reverse the cards once you pass 80 %. Flip It lets you study back-to-front: seeing "Ingmar Bergman" and recalling "The Seventh Seal" is harder than the other direction and is exactly what quiz hosts ask.
