Dropshipping sounds simple until someone asks you the difference between blind shipping and private label shipping, or why eBay suspends a seller who fills an order from Amazon. The vocabulary is where most people get stuck, and it is exactly what the NO1307 — E-commerce Operations: Dropshipping & Fulfillment deck on Flip It drills: 39 cards on the mechanics, the money and the failure modes of selling products you never touch.

Start with the cards that define the model

FrontBack (condensed)
DropshippingRetail form where the seller takes orders without holding stock and passes them to manufacturers, wholesalers or fulfillment houses who ship directly to the customer
Order fulfillmentReceiving, processing and delivering orders: inventory management, picking, packing, shipping
Fulfillment houseThird party handling storage, packaging and shipping so the retailer can outsource fulfillment
Blind shippingShipping without a return address matching the seller, hiding the real source from the customer
Private label shippingWholesaler ships with a return address customised to the retailer's brand
Back-orderProduct listed as available but actually out of stock at the supplier, so the customer waits
MarkupGap between wholesale cost and selling price — the seller's gross profit
How did Amazon use dropshipping early on?Listed over a million books while stocking only ~2,000 popular titles; publishers and wholesalers shipped directly in Amazon packaging

Everything the 39 cards cover

Business model: dropshipping advantages (no warehouse, no inventory purchase, no staff, location-independent) and drawbacks (thin margins, no quality control, shipping delays). Marketplaces: eBay listing rules, the prohibited marketplace-to-marketplace method, Alibaba and AliExpress, Chinese special economic zones and export tax incentives, cross-border trade. Economics: cost of goods, handling and shipping fees, flat rate vs percentage shipping, profit margin, cost-effectiveness, scale. Marketing: SEO, influencer marketing, microtargeting on social platforms. Operations and risk: supply chain management, inventory management, unreliable suppliers, customer satisfaction, returns from buyers who discover they overpaid, and the classic work-at-home scam where a middleman sells a list of fake wholesalers. Plus the retail vocabulary around it: wholesaler, brick and mortar store, virtual retailer, packing slip, mail order.

Two tips that make this deck stick

Learn the box-level trio as one unit. Blind shipping, private label shipping and packing slip all answer the same question: what does the customer see when the parcel arrives? Review them back to back and the distinctions stop blurring.

Drill card 9 against card 11. One says retailers are never required to disclose that they dropship or name their wholesale sources; the other says eBay suspends sellers who buy from another marketplace to fill an order. They are not contradictory — dropshipping from a wholesaler is normal retail, retail arbitrage is a platform violation. Confusing the two is the single most expensive mistake in this deck.

Once the definitions are automatic, use the economics cards as a checklist before launching any product: wholesale cost, shipping fee structure, ad spend, expected return rate.
