Studying for the IHK Fachinformatiker exam, an Informatik Abitur or a Datenbanksysteme lecture taught in German? YL1124 – SQL: Datenbankdesign & Normalisierung is the German edition of Flip It's normalization deck: 32 cards with English fronts (Superkey, Boyce-Codd Normal Form (BCNF)) and German answers. The English deck is reviewed in the Database Normalization Study Guide; this guide covers what changes in German.

Sample cards
| Front | Back (German) |
|---|---|
| According to C.J. Date, when is a database truly 'normalized'?
German terms the deck teaches
Normalisierung, Datenredundanz, Datenintegrität, Einfüge-, Änderungs- und Löschanomalie, funktionale Abhängigkeit, volle funktionale Abhängigkeit, transitive Abhängigkeit, mehrwertige Abhängigkeit, Verbundabhängigkeit, verlustfreie Zerlegung, Primärschlüssel, zusammengesetzter Schlüssel, Kandidatenschlüssel, Superschlüssel, Primärattribut, Nicht-Schlüsselattribut, 1NF bis 6NF, BCNF, EKNF, ETNF (2012), DKNF, Denormalisierung, spaltenorientierte Speicherung, OLTP vs. Data Warehouse, Codds Ziel bei der 1NF.
Tips for the German edition
Learn the textbook synonyms, not just the deck's wording. The backs name the anomalies only in full sentences, while exams expect the nouns Einfügeanomalie, Änderungsanomalie (Update-Anomalie), Löschanomalie. Many German books also say Schlüsselkandidat instead of Kandidatenschlüssel and Nichtschlüsselattribut instead of Nicht-Schlüsselattribut. Add reverse cards (German term → English front) so you can produce the vocabulary: IHK tasks ask you to normalize a table up to 3NF and name each step in German. Unlike Spanish or French, German keeps the English acronyms (1NF, BCNF), so the forms themselves need no translation.
Rewrite two backs. Card 11 says 5NF avoids "Probleme bei der verlustfreien Zerlegung", but lossless decomposition is the goal: write « jede Verbundabhängigkeit ist durch die Schlüsselkandidaten impliziert ». Card 28 calls columnar storage "eine interne 6NF-Darstellung"; that is an analogy, not a definition, so phrase it as « spaltenweise Speicherung, ähnelt einer 6NF-Zerlegung ».
Practise on one German table. Take Bestellung(BestellNr, ArtikelNr, Artikelname, Menge): Artikelname depends only on ArtikelNr, which breaks 2NF. Keep the keys (cards 13-17) first and review DKNF, EKNF and ETNF rarely, since card 25 itself calls them mostly academic.
