How the pomodoro technique works

  1. Pick one task and start a 25 minute focus block.
  2. Work on it until the timer rings, then take a 5 minute break.
  3. After four focus blocks, take a longer 15 to 30 minute break.

Short, timed blocks keep your attention fresh and make big study sessions feel smaller. Change the durations in the settings to fit your rhythm (50/10 and 90/20 are one tap away).

Questions

Is this pomodoro timer free?+

Yes. The timer works right here without an account. A free FLIP IT account adds animated pixel scenes, chiptune music, your daily focus total, a study streak and a leaderboard with friends.

Does the timer keep running in another tab?+

Yes. It keeps time even in a background tab or after a reload, rings at the end of each block and can send a notification.

Can I change the 25 / 5 minute durations?+

Yes. Open the settings to pick 25/5, 50/10 or 90/20, or set your own focus, break and long-break lengths.

What is the best pomodoro length for studying?+

25 minutes of focus and 5 minutes of break is the classic. For deep work like exam revision, many students prefer 50/10. Try both and keep what holds your attention.

Can I study with music?+

With a free account you get 10 calm chiptune tracks made for long study sessions, one by one or all in a shuffle loop.
