Deck WK7858 — "SAT Reading & Writing: Key Strategies", 80 cards. There are no strategies in it. Not one card tells you how to attack a transition question, an inference stem, or a subject-verb agreement trap. The deck is an encyclopedia entry about the SAT itself, cut into flashcards: history, fees, percentiles, the ACT comparison, the prep industry. Only four cards touch the Reading and Writing section at all. Knowing that changes how you use it — and there is one repair to make first.

What the 80 cards actually teach
Exam logistics and statistics: the College Board and ETS, the 1926 debut, the 400–1600 scale, the 2h14 digital format, Bluebook, module-adaptive scoring, the eight annual test dates, the US$68 fee, the built-in Desmos calculator, the question flagger, experimental questions, unequal question weighting, no guessing penalty, distractors, norm-referenced scoring, score release timing, score cancellation, User Percentile versus Nationally Representative Sample Percentile, the discontinued Subject Tests and essay, SAT School Day, accommodations (time +50% and +100%), the 2018 ACT concordance, test-optional admissions, Stanley Kaplan in 1946, and the 2025 section averages (521 Reading and Writing, 508 Math).
Eight cards from the deck
| Front | Back |
|---|---|
| How many questions are on the Reading and Writing section? | 54 questions (27 per module, two modules) |
| How long is each Reading and Writing module? | 32 minutes per module, 64 minutes total |
| What format are Reading and Writing questions? | Short passages of 25–150 words, each followed by a single multiple-choice question |
| Is the digital SAT adaptive? | Yes — Module 2 difficulty is set by your Module 1 performance |
| Is there a penalty for guessing? | No — scoring counts correct answers only |
| What are "distractor" questions? | Hard items with plausible but incorrect options, used to maintain the bell curve |
| Can test-takers identify experimental questions? | No — so answer every question |
| How long does the digital SAT take? | 2 hours 14 minutes, plus a 10-minute break |
Eight cards belong to a different exam
This is the fix worth making before your first review. A block of cards in this deck reports LSAT facts under SAT labels:
- "50th percentile: about 1050–1100 (around 151 on the old scale)", "90th: around 1350–1400 (about 165)", "99th: about 1520–1550 (around 173)" — 151, 165 and 173 are LSAT percentile scores, not any SAT scale.
- "Historical SAT scale from 1981–1991: a 48-point scale" and "current 120–180 scale introduced in 1991" — both describe the LSAT's scale history.
- "Scale before 1981: 200 to 800" — the LSAT's pre-1982 range.
- "Canceling scores: LSAC still reports that the student registered and took the exam" — LSAC is the Law School Admission Council. The College Board is not involved.
- "Predictive validity: explains 14–15% of variance in first and second year law school grades" — LSAT research.
Delete or re-tag all eight. If you want them, they belong with the LSAT deck, covered in Memorize How the LSAT Works.
The other overlap problem
Roughly three-quarters of the remaining cards repeat the 97-card deck IO2338, which is the same source article cut slightly differently. Do not review both: pick one, suspend the twins in the other. Note too that card 31 lists the Reading and Writing content domains as "vocabulary, sentence structure and usage, interpretation of tables and graphs" — the College Board's four official domains are Information and Ideas, Craft and Structure, Expression of Ideas, and Standard English Conventions. Write those four cards yourself; they are the map of the section you are actually sitting.
How to use a deck like this
Treat WK7858 as an exam-logistics deck and finish it in two sessions: this is recognition material, and it stops paying off once you know it. Points on test day come from timed passages, not from the 1926 debut. Pair it with vocabulary drilling and real practice modules.
