Business English has two layers: the concepts everyone in a meeting is expected to know (burn rate, EBITDA, force majeure) and the alphabet soup nobody explains (WACC, TAM, QoQ, COB). Deck RU6336 — Business Vocabulary & Abbreviations on Flip It covers both in 359 flashcards: about 230 one-sentence concept definitions, then about 130 acronyms.

A study plan built on the deck's structure

Week 1 — concepts in pairs. Many cards only make sense against their opposite: accounts receivable / payable, CapEx / OpEx, fixed / variable cost, write-off / write-down, offshoring / nearshoring / reshoring, market / limit / stop-loss order. When one comes up, say the other before flipping.

Week 2 — the numbers. Isolate the ratio cards (gross margin, net margin, current ratio, quick ratio, debt-to-equity, P/E, EPS, ROI) and write the formula next to each definition, the way the deck does for ROI: (gain − cost) / cost.

Week 3 — acronyms by family. Never learn 130 abbreviations as a flat list. Group them: money metrics (CAC, LTV, ARPU, MRR, ARR), ad metrics (CTR, CPC, CPM, CPA, CVR), market sizing (TAM, SAM, SOM), calendar shorthand (YTD, QoQ, YoY, EOD, COB), entity types by country (GmbH Germany, S.A. France/Spain, AG Germany/Switzerland, PLC UK).

Two tips specific to this deck

  1. Use the near-duplicates as tests. The deck has both Capital expenditure (CapEx) and CAPEX, Customer acquisition cost (CAC) and CAC, Service level agreement (SLA) and SLA. When only the acronym shows, recite the full definition: that is your retrieval check.
  2. Anchor the legal cards in one scenario. Chapter 7 vs Chapter 11, arbitration vs mediation, secured vs unsecured debt are easy to swap. Narrate one imaginary company: it defaults, the collateral is seized, it files Chapter 11 and restructures. Story beats definition.
