Deck MP5561 – Python: Eingebaute Funktionen is the German edition of our Python built-in functions deck: the same 77 cards, function names on the front, definitions in German on the back. It's the right deck if you read the German Python docs, study Informatik in German, or want to explain code to German-speaking colleagues.

Sample cards (real German backs)

FrontBack
Divmod()Quotient und Rest bei ganzzahliger Division (a // b, a % b)
Frozenset()Ein neues unveränderliches frozenset-Objekt
Filter(None, iterable)Gibt alle wahrheitswertigen Elemente zurück
2-argument form of iter()iter(callable, sentinel) – ruft callable auf, bis sentinel zurückgegeben wird
Is eval() safe with user input?Nein – es führt beliebigen Code aus
What bases are allowed for int()?0 und 2-36

Functions covered: abs, all, any, ascii, bin, bool, breakpoint, bytearray, bytes, callable, chr, classmethod, compile, complex, delattr, dict, dir, divmod, enumerate, eval, exec, filter, float, format, frozenset, getattr, globals, hasattr, hash, help, hex, id, input, int, isinstance, issubclass, iter, len, list, locals, map, max, min, next, oct, open, ord, pow, print, property, range, repr, reversed, round, set, setattr, sorted, staticmethod, str, sum, super, tuple, type, vars, zip.

The German vocabulary is the real lesson

Learn these terms as a mini-glossary — they appear in every German Python book:

  • Zeichenkette = string · Ganzzahl = integer · Gleitkommazahl = float
  • Gültigkeitsbereich = scope · Namensraum = namespace
  • wahrheitswertig = truthy · veränderlich / unveränderlich = mutable / immutable
  • Unterklasse = subclass · Hashwert, Iterator, Decorator stay English

Fix three cards before drilling

  1. Lowercase the fronts. The deck writes Abs(), Len(), Isinstance(); Python names are case-sensitive, so Len() raises a NameError. Type the real len() when you answer.
  2. Card 69 shows 1.114.111 — German thousands notation. In Python that's not a number; the literal is 1_114_111 (or 0x10FFFF).
  3. "Hasattr() actually" lost its question. Rewrite it as Wie prüft hasattr() intern? → calls getattr() and catches AttributeError.

What the deck leaves out

aiter()/anext() (Python 3.10), memoryview(), object(), slice() and __import__() are missing — write five cards. Also add the gotchas that show up in interviews: round(2.5) returns 2 (banker's rounding), zip(..., strict=True) (3.10) raises on unequal lengths, and since Python 3.14 map() accepts strict=True too — the deck's card 77 ("stops at the shortest iterable") is only the default.
