What the 613 cards cover
The deck follows the DELE themes in order of difficulty, so studying it front to back walks you up the CEFR ladder:
- A1 survival Spanish – greetings (hola, ¿cómo estás?, me llamo), numbers (cinco, ocho), colours (amarillo, rosa), months (enero, julio), time words (semana, reloj).
- Family and home – hijo, bebé, abuela, escaleras, cuaderno, edificio, jardín.
- Food and shopping – huevo, fresa, aceite, camarero, vaqueros.
- City, travel and nature – ciudad, cielo, tren, vacaciones, tormenta, derecha, metro.
- Work, health and daily life (A2–B1) – salario, jefe, estudiante, farmacia, cita, salud, dedo, cara, hambre.
- High-frequency verbs – saber, responder, sentir, nadar, salir, ganar, reparar, odiar, recordar, terminar, pintar.
- Adjectives and adverbs (B1–B2) – bajo, joven, mojado, sorprendido, útil, solo, tranquilo, seguro, incierto, el mejor, después, bastante, quizás, aproximadamente.
Question words such as dónde are included too, which matters because DELE listening tasks constantly hinge on them.
Two DELE-specific study tips
1. Learn nouns with their article. The deck gives you cuaderno, tormenta, salud; as you review, say el cuaderno, la tormenta, la salud out loud. DELE writing tasks at A2 and B1 are marked on gender and number agreement, and the article is the cheapest way to lock the gender into memory. Watch the traps: la mano, el día, el problema.
2. Split the cognates from the false friends. About ten cards are identical in both languages (radio, pasta, chocolate, hotel, hospital, taxi, metro, simple, similar) – skip them fast. Spend that time on the words whose Spanish form looks nothing like English: vaqueros (jeans), camarero (waiter), cita (appointment, not "city"), sorprendido (surprised). Those are the ones DELE examiners use to separate a B1 from a B2 candidate.
How to schedule it
At 613 cards, 20 new cards a day gets you through the deck in a month, with spaced-repetition reviews keeping the earlier A1 material alive while you push into B2 adjectives. Reverse the deck (Spanish → English) for the reading and listening papers, and keep it English → Spanish for the writing and speaking papers where you need active recall.
