The DELF French Vocabulary (A1–B2) deck (code YK1023) has 612 English→French cards in themed blocks. It moves from greetings, numbers and the calendar through family, home, food, clothes, the city, transport, work, shops, health and the body, then about 100 verbs, 100 adjectives and a long run of adverbs. It's a solid core list, but nothing in it is specific to the DELF, and a few backs will cost you points in the written exam. Here's how to study it and what to fix first.

Politeness formulas (s'il vous plaît, excusez-moi, enchanté), days and months, père, sœur, grand-mère, cuisine, salon, escalier, ascenseur, boulangerie, pharmacie, espèces, reçu, ordonnance, urgence, douleur, body parts from tête to genou, gare, billet, valise, tout droit, workplace words (réunion, contrat, salaire, collègue), plus savoir/connaître, se souvenir, réussir, échouer and adverbs such as déjà, pendant, jusqu'à, plutôt, environ.

Five backs to rewrite

  1. Good morning → Bon matin (card 9). In France this is a calque. You say Bonjour until early evening, then Bonsoir.
  2. Excited → Excité (card 522). It often has a sexual meaning. Use impatient(e) or enthousiaste.
  3. To make → Fabriquer (card 385). That means to manufacture. Everyday make is faire: faire un gâteau, faire une erreur.
  4. About → À propos (card 611). À propos de means "concerning". For "about 20" use environ, and for "a book about" use sur.
  5. Foolish → Fou (card 542). Fou means crazy. Foolish is bête or idiot.

Also check Large → Large (card 474): in French large means wide. And To love → Adorer together with To like → Aimer gets the scale backwards. Aimer already means love; for "like", use aimer bien.

Study tips specific to this deck

Add the article to every noun. None of the ~300 nouns shows its gender, and DELF graders penalize le and la errors in production. Rewrite the backs as la gare, le musée, la plage. Watch musée: it ends in -ée but is masculine.

Turn feeling cards into "avoir" phrases. Faim, soif, chaud, froid (cards 200-205) are useless on their own. Make them j'ai faim, j'ai soif, j'ai chaud. Je suis chaud means something quite different.

Fill the number gap before A2. The deck jumps from dix to vingt and from cinquante to cent. Write cards for onze to seize and for soixante-dix (70), quatre-vingts (80), quatre-vingt-dix (90). Listening tasks always include prices and times.

Split the shared backs. About 15 French words appear on two cards: femme (woman/wife), fille, grand, beau, bureau, chambre, voyage, sentir, se lever, perdre, encore, assez, surtout, peut-être. Add a short example sentence to each so the reverse direction has one clear answer.
