Deck XL3413 – JavaScript : concepts fondamentaux is the French edition of our JavaScript Core Concepts deck: the same 76 cards from MDN's language overview, with an English question on the front and a French answer on the back. Use it if you follow a BTS SIO or licence informatique course, read French docs, or mentor French-speaking juniors.

Question

Seven primitive types in JavaScript

Ten real cards

FrontBack (French, as in the deck)
Is NaN equal to itself?Non, NaN est la seule valeur en JavaScript qui n'est pas égale à elle-même
Does const prevent mutations?
0 && 'Hello'0 (première valeur fausse rencontrée)
What happens if you don't use break in switch?L'exécution « tombe » (fall through) dans le cas suivant
Sparse arrayUn tableau avec des emplacements inoccupés
ClosureUne fonction combinée à son environnement lexical
Is JavaScript single-threaded or multi-threaded?Mono-thread par nature… seulement de la concurrence via la boucle d'événements

What the 76 cards cover

Les 7 types primitifs (Number, BigInt, String, Boolean, Symbol, Undefined, Null), virgule flottante IEEE 754, NaN, Infinity, chaînes UTF-16, littéraux de gabarit, null vs undefined, valeurs falsy, let/const/var, portée de bloc, zone morte temporelle, typage dynamique, coercition, == vs ===, court-circuit &&/||, ASI, for...of vs for...in, switch, try...catch, objets-dictionnaires, notation pointée vs crochets, passage par référence, length, tableaux creux, map(), paramètres du reste, syntaxe de décomposition, déstructuration, paramètres par défaut, fonctions fléchées, IIFE, fonctions de première classe, closures, classes (static, champs privés #), boucle d'événements, Promises, async/await, modules import/export, environnements d'exécution (navigateur, Node.js, Deno).

Fix these cards first

  • Delete card 29. Walrus operator := is Python, not JavaScript. In JS an assignment is already an expression: while ((ligne = lire()) !== null).
  • Repair card 35. The front lost its start; it should read « Quel opérateur switch utilise-t-il pour comparer les cas ? » → ===.
  • Complete card 13. The falsy list is missing -0 and 0n.
  • Card 54 says paramètres supplémentaires: they are arguments (the values passed), not paramètres (the names declared). French exams test that distinction.
  • Card 38 says on relève l'erreur: the usual French term is relancer (rethrow), throw err inside the catch.

A French-specific tip

Add the French term to each front you'll need at an oral exam: closure → fermeture, spread → syntaxe de décomposition, rest → paramètres du reste, hoisting → remontée. MDN France uses these, and the deck mostly keeps the English word. Then drill the expression cards (23, 25, 27, 28) by predicting the output before typing it in the console.
