A trip to Moscow or Saint Petersburg runs on a few hundred words: signs, menus, metro stops and numbers. The Russian Travel & Daily Life deck (code RM9589, 248 cards) covers exactly that ground, but it is built from two different blocks, and knowing that changes how you should study it.

How the deck is built
- Cards 1-198: English to bare Cyrillic, no transliteration. Greetings, transport, hotel, food, directions, days, numbers 1-10 and the tens, shopping, health, adjectives.
- Cards 199-248: a second block with transliteration: zero, 11-19, the hundreds up to 900, million and billion, eleven colors and the twelve months.
If you cannot read Cyrillic yet, start with the second block: the romanization there teaches you the alphabet on easy words (январь, yanvar'). Then move to block one. Cards 214 (сто) and 223 (тысяча) repeat cards 98-99, so suspend the duplicates.

A few backs are dictionary-correct but not what people say:
- Stop → Остановка means a bus or tram stop. To tell someone to stop, it is Стойте!
- Change → Изменить is the verb to change. The coins you get back at a till are сдача.
- Battery → Батарея is also the word for a radiator. A phone battery is аккумулятор, an AA battery батарейка.
- Thirsty → Жаждущий is bookish. Say Я хочу пить; likewise Я хочу есть for hungry.
- Emergency → Скорая помощь is the ambulance. The pan-emergency number is 112, ambulance 103.
- Hat → Шапка is a winter hat; a brimmed hat is шляпа. Shoes → Обувь is footwear in general.
- Hello → Здравствуйте is formal. Add Привет for friends.
A Russian-specific tip: two blues
Russian has no single word for blue. Card 132 синий is dark blue, card 226 голубой is light blue, and natives treat them as different colors. Put both on one review session and picture the Russian flag's middle stripe (синий) against the sky (голубой). Do the same with два/две when you reach the numbers: card 85 gives only два, but feminine nouns take две: две чашки кофе.
