German has four cases, and every one of them shows up on the little word in front of the noun: der Mann sees, den Mann is seen, dem Mann gets something, and the book belongs to des Mannes. Flip It deck HZ8148 "German Cases: Nominative, Accusative, Dative, Genitive" drills that system in 104 cards. It's well built: the article tables, pronouns, prepositions by case, dative verbs, a few "name the case" sentences and the contractions you hear every day.

What the 104 cards cover
How to study it
Learn the table, not 32 separate cards. Cards 5-32 are one 4×4 grid asked cell by cell. Write the grid once and look at the patterns: the dative always ends in -m / -r / -n (dem, der, dem, den), masculine is the only gender that changes in the accusative, and feminine and plural share der in the genitive. Then flip the cards and check that you can rebuild the grid in under a minute.
For two-way prepositions, ask Wo? or Wohin? The deck illustrates only in and auf. Add one card each for an, über, unter, vor, hinter, neben, zwischen built on the same pair: Ich hänge das Bild an die Wand (wohin? → accusative) / Das Bild hängt an der Wand (wo? → dative). The verb pairs legen/liegen, stellen/stehen, hängen/hängen make the rule automatic.
Three fixes worth making
- Card 39's mnemonic lists aus twice and leaves out gegenüber. Rewrite the back as aus, außer, bei, gegenüber, mit, nach, seit, von, zu.
- Card 33 gives N-A-D-G, the order most English textbooks use. German grammars and schools number them Nominativ, Genitiv, Dativ, Akkusativ (1. to 4. Fall), so add that to the hint before you open a German-language grammar.
- Two big topics are missing: adjective endings (mit dem alten Mann) and weak nouns (den Studenten, dem Jungen, des Namens). Write ten cards for each once the article grid sticks.
If you also need the genders and plurals that decide which column to use, deck KM1058 is a good companion: German articles, genders and prepositions.
